Systems Engineer III

Job Description
This position supports DHS in providing architecture and systems engineering support to mitigate cyber intrusions onto CenturyLink's ISP network in support of US Government networks. The position will involve systems engineering lifecycle (SELC) supporting an ISP based Cyber security intrusion detection / intrusion prevention technologies.
Job Description:
The Systems Engineer will work in a challenging, hands-on environment supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other specialized customers in support of the National Cyber Protection System (NCPS) initiatives. Successful candidates will have a strong knowledge of the SELC phases and have experience using multiple lifecycle models to deliver engineered mission critical systems.
Duties include:
Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical personnel for the purposes of eliciting and clarifying functional requirements and underlying business process(es)
Collection, development and analysis of functional and system requirements for implementation within the product offerings.
Participate in the engineering design process ensuring that the design properly accommodates and implements requirements
Develop and execute test plans ensuring traceability to verify and validate the acceptable implementation of system requirements. Document the results of testing activities in test reports
Utilize system engineering tools (e.g. DOORS, System Architect) and automated test suite(s) in support of SELC process.
Provide recommendations on the use lifecycle models (Waterfall, Spiral, Agile) for independent engineering efforts.

Desired Skills & Experience
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in system engineering and engineering disciplines. Specific technical and process knowledge of delivering rigorously engineered enterprise systems.
Job Requires:
A Bachelor's Degree and/or Advanced degree in a technical discipline with experience, or a strong interest in system engineering with detailed experience utilizing the SELC to engineer systems
7-10 years experience
Extensive experience with system engineering tools and technologies
Experience using multiple lifecycle models
A proven track record in strong written and oral communications
Knowledge and experience base should include similar sized and scoped program
Candidate must be a US Citizen with an active Department of Defense TOP SECRET clearance.
Desired Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, problem solving ability and strong work ethic that is proactive and self-motivated. Knowledge of ISP and commercial telecommunications business practices is desirable.
