Job Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Hub Manager or Senior Manager ? Hub, the Manager ? Dock Operations SP oversees the frontline managers in the day-to-day operation of the hub to ensure the best possible service to the customers through timely and safe movement of parcels throughout our system, in accordance with company policies and procedures. Supports the FedEx Ground (FXG) Safety Above All Culture.
Essential Functions
Serves as a champion for FXG's Safety Above All Culture and supports all related initiatives.
Manage, support, mentor, and monitor the performance of direct reports. Provide leadership, training, and opportunities in order to develop and retain talented employees. Hold frontline managers accountable for their area of responsibility and their direct reports. Assist in handling employee relations issues.
Interview, select, hire, train, discipline, schedule, and develop direct reports and dock employees.
Manage dock hours. Verify MyTime hours against daily labor sheets, verify weekly temp agency hours, and verify that labor is coded correctly in MyTime.
Promote and support corporate initiatives regarding quality, service, and productivity.
Participate in the development of and responsible for administering company safety strategies and programs.
Participate in long-term and short-term planning and execution of business goals related to peak planning and staffing needs.
Communicate with logistics regarding Delivery Destination Unit (DDU) and mainline volume fluctuations and potential problems with accounts.
Enforce compliance with policies, procedures and goals.
Communicate needs to staffing agencies regarding labor needs and employee concerns.
Manage and maintain a positive relationship with carriers. This includes management of internal controls such as load auditing and communication with carriers that have not completed the daily web portal entries.
Manage and maintain a positive relationship with the United States Postal Service (USPS). This includes participating in the management and development of internal controls. It also includes analysis of the weekly problem zip code report and sending scan performance reporting to Business Service Network Representatives.
Work with the Transportation Department to develop tools and internal controls that benefit FXG. This position will work closely with the Transportation Department to learn new and existing functions, and will be responsible for field training at all respective hubs. This may require minimal travel.
Monitor all mainline and customer trailer movement for respective hubs. The position is responsible for the vendor portal entry for its hubs and will participate in a daily conference call to determine true failures.
Under the direction of the Transportation Department, provides operational support related to software releases that affect any of the direct report positions.
Manage Hub and subregions service and transportation costs.
Analyze load factor weekly and promptly identify short falls. With the support of the Transportation Department, responsible for the prompt correction of dispatch frequencies.
Comply with and complete all BCSA audit documentation per company policy.
Manage and work to increase DDU penetration to cut down postal costs
Ensure organizational compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Promote affirmative action and equal opportunity employment.

Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations. Ensure the maintenance of all housekeeping standards.
Assist corporate staff with the development of hub engineering plans and material handling improvements.
Attend and/or hold necessary meetings (staff, safety, etc.) and required training classes. Possibly travel to other locations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business or related field preferred.
Minimum Experience
Two (2) years management experience or operational leadership experience required.
Required Skills, Abilities and / or Licensure
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratios and percent.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to organize, motivate, and lead employees.
Solid computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to proficiently communicate verbally and in writing using the English language.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
